This policy describes information associated with using The Gear Stash. For privacy questions, contact chaney@thegearstash.com.

Information you provide

If you contact us, sign up for the newsletter, or use available comment or account features, the site and its service providers may process the information you provide, such as your name, email address and message. Do not submit sensitive information in public comments.

Cookies and similar technologies

Like most websites, The Gear Stash and the services it uses rely on cookies, pixels, local storage and similar technologies. Some are needed for the site and embedded forms to work. Others measure visits, remember settings, credit affiliate sales, or measure and target advertising. The main ones are described below. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; some features, like the newsletter form, may not work fully if you do.

Technical data and analytics

The website and its service providers may process technical details such as IP addresses, browser information, referring pages and pages visited. An IP address can be personal data; it is not treated here as automatically anonymous.

The Gear Stash uses Google Analytics 4 through WordPress tools (the MonsterInsights plugin adds the tag, and Google Site Kit shows reports and Google Search Console data inside WordPress). Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits and understand how pages are used. Google explains its practices in its privacy policy and in how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can opt out of Google Analytics on all websites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or on this site with the button in the Your Privacy Choices section below. Browser settings and any controls offered on the site may limit some cookies; browser controls do not necessarily stop every form of technical logging.

Meta (Facebook) Pixel

The Gear Stash uses the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram). It records page views and newsletter signups on this site so we can measure our ads and show ads to people who have visited the site (retargeting). Meta may receive information such as your IP address, browser details, the pages you view and Meta cookie identifiers, and may connect this with your Meta account if you have one. We do not use Meta’s advanced or automatic matching, so we do not send your email address or other form details to Meta through the pixel.

We do not load the Meta Pixel for browsers that send a Global Privacy Control (GPC) or Do Not Track signal, or for browsers where you have used the opt-out button below. To manage how Meta uses your activity for ads, visit your Meta ad preferences. Meta explains its practices in its privacy policy.

Affiliate links and their cookies

Some product links are affiliate links. When you click one, the affiliate network and the retailer may set cookies or record a click ID so that a purchase you make can be credited to The Gear Stash. We currently use links through Impact (for retailers including Jenson USA and Competitive Cyclist) and Awin. If we add other networks, such as Rakuten Advertising or CJ, we will add them here. These cookies are set by the network or retailer, not by us, and are covered by their own privacy policies. We receive reports about commissions, not your name or payment details. Blocking third-party cookies in your browser limits this tracking. See our link disclosure for how The Gear Stash makes money.

Links to other websites

Product links may lead to retailers or manufacturers with their own privacy policies. Linked sites have their own tracking practices.

Newsletter (Beehiiv)

The newsletter signup forms on this site are provided by Beehiiv. If you subscribe, Beehiiv stores your email address for us along with signup details such as the page you signed up from, how you reached the site (for example, campaign tags in the link you followed or the referring site) and the date. Beehiiv’s form also sets cookies to remember that attribution and whether you have already subscribed or dismissed a form. Beehiiv may record newsletter opens and clicks. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in any newsletter email. Beehiiv explains its practices in its privacy policy.

Email and retention

Contact correspondence is used to respond to the matter raised. Newsletter subscriber information is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it. Otherwise, information retention depends on its purpose, applicable requirements and the service involved; no universal retention period is promised here.

How to opt out

Your Privacy Choices / Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

We do not sell personal information for money. Some U.S. state privacy laws treat letting advertising partners like Meta collect information through a pixel for ad targeting as “selling” or “sharing” personal information. You can opt out of this on this site in any of these ways:

Requests and security

Contact us about access, correction, deletion or opt-out requests. We will consider requests under applicable requirements and explain any information needed to handle them. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Policy updates

This policy may change as site features and practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
