This week’s Stash Brief is mostly about one number: 32. Wheels, tires and complete bikes in the new size all surfaced within days. Also: two recalls worth checking, a Pon brand shakeup, Colorado’s e-bike vs. e-moto line, and bike computers that now talk back.

32-inch wheels got real this week

Reserve released a 32-inch version of its 30|XC carbon wheel: 30 mm internal width, 28 spokes, $699 for a rim or $1,799 for a wheelset on DT Swiss 350 hubs, with a claimed 1,911 g wheelset weight.[1][2] Tires are arriving too. Rene Herse lists a 32 x 2.2-inch Indiana Pass semi-slick in four casings at $87–$115, tubeless-compatible and coming in 2027.[3] Continental previewed a 32-inch Dubnital Race Rapid for April 2027, with width, weight and price not yet released; the rollover and traction benefits are Continental’s claims.[4] Schwalbe plans G-One RS Pro and RX Pro gravel tires in 50-686 and 55-686 for April 2027. That 686 figure matters: 32-inch tires need 686 mm rims, so nothing you own today will fit.[5]

Complete bikes are here as well. Avona’s Callis 32 gravel racer starts at €5,799 with SRAM Rival XPLR, clears 55 mm tires and ships on Schwalbe G-One RS 50-686; Avona claims 8–16 W savings at 35 km/h.[6] Viral opened pre-orders for a 32-inch Wanderer bikepacking bike with a Pinion gearbox, from $10,295 for April 2027 delivery. Viral itself acknowledges riders “will be hesitant to jump on a 32-inch wheel with so little tire choices in the wild.”[7] Meanwhile, Cube raced a 30.5-inch front wheel at the Enduro World Championships, where Zakarias Johansen finished 17th, though Schwalbe calls its samples testing “with no predetermined outcome.”[8]

Why it matters: 32 is early-adopter territory with thin tire choice, and your 29er isn’t obsolete. For tires you can mount this season, see our gravel tire guide. Still, Schwalbe says Robin Gemperle won the 2026 Unbound XL on prototype RX Pros.[5] If Unbound 2027 is on your list, the lottery runs Nov. 1–15, with Life Time club early access on Oct. 25 and results on Nov. 21.[9] The Gravel Stash tracks registration dates for 101 US gravel races if you’re planning the rest of the calendar.

Recalls: Van Rysel GRVL AF and Giant SureLock keys

Decathlon is recalling about 1,150 Van Rysel GRVL AF gravel bikes sold at REI from March 2025 to August 2026. The front lock nut can loosen and let the front wheel come out. No incidents are reported. Stop riding it and get a free inspection and repair at REI, or call Decathlon at 415-408-5494.[10]

Giant is recalling roughly 3,630 LED light keys sold with SureLock lock sets in the US because children can reach the button-cell battery, which violates Reese’s Law. Get a $5 refund through a Giant retailer; the lock and the non-LED keys are still usable.[11]

Pon shakes up Juliana, Cannondale and Santa Cruz

Juliana-branded bikes will no longer be produced; the brand folds back into Santa Cruz, which takes over rider support and frame warranties.[12] Cannondale is closing its Wilton, Connecticut, headquarters. North American operations move to Santa Cruz, California, and the global HQ to the Netherlands. Up to 143 workers may be affected, and dealers will get a single point of contact for Santa Cruz, Cervélo and Cannondale.[13]

Separately, Fox Factory’s CEO Mike Dennison stepped down, and the company cut its full-year sales forecast to $1.35–1.38 billion.[14] For riders, the open question is how consolidation shapes dealer support and future lineups.

Colorado draws the e-bike vs. e-moto line

We covered Attorney General Phil Weiser’s Oct. 12 advisory in our Colorado e-bike laws explainer: over 750 W, or past the Class 1, 2 and 3 speed limits, it isn’t an e-bike.[15] This week, Monument’s town council unanimously passed fines of $50–$1,000 for illegal e-motos, up to $250 for parents; legal e-bikes aren’t affected.[16]

New Jersey shows the risk of an overly broad rule. Its law requires a license, registration and insurance, and the NBDA estimates about three dozen shops have closed, with legal e-bike sales down 20%. Those are trade-group estimates.[17] If you ride a real Class 1 e-MTB, our Colorado e-bike laws explainer covers where you can ride, and our e-MTB tire guide covers what to put on it.

Bike computers: Garmin Edge 1060 and Coros Dura 2 Solar

Garmin’s Edge 1060 adds a microphone for “Okay, Garmin” voice commands, new routing tools, and keeps the 1050’s battery rating of up to 20 hours (60 in saver mode). It’s $799.99, and Garmin’s product page gave Oct. 23 as the order date.[18][19] Competitive Cyclist lists the 1060 at $799.99, on backorder as of Oct. 23. If voice control isn’t a priority, the Edge 1050 is $699.99 at Jenson USA.

Coros’ Dura 2 Solar moves to a 3.5-inch screen and adds voice control, with a claimed 120 hours of battery. It goes on sale Nov. 3 at $499, or $549 with Coros’ mount.[20] Our cycling computer guide compares the units you can buy today.
